Pirates keep rolling after 9-1 win over Canyons

SANTA CLARITA -- The Month of February continues to be kind to the Orange Coast College baseball team, thanks to Thursday's 9-1 nonconference road win over College of the Canyons.

Another dominating pitching performance from freshman righty Brandon Brennan was the key to the Pirates' 13th non-loss to start the season (12-0-1). In fact, if you combine the team's February in 2011 with this year, the Pirates have been an astounding 26-1-1.
Bijan Rademacher went 3-for-4 with a run and one RBI for Coast, while Justin Broussard added two hits -- both doubles, one run and two RBI. Ben Agredano also added to the Coast offense with his first home run of the season to go along with three runs scored.
But the story was Brennan, who cruised through six innings of work, allowing five hits, no runs, no walks and seven strikeouts. Jed Vandernaald and Andrew Bynum threw the last three innings and allowed just one run on three hits with four more Ks.
Coast grabbed a 1-0 lead in the third and blew the game open with a three-run fifth and a two-run sixth, making it 6-0. Broussard's solo blast and a two-run double by Chris Carlson highlighted the fifth frame, before Broussard followed suit with a two-run double in the sixth.
