Pirate women claim fourth place at Brubaker Invitational

ORANGE -- Three top-25 performances from the Orange Coast College women's cross country yielded the Pirates a solid fourth-place team finish at the 2018 Brubaker Invitational on Friday at Irvine Park.

Led by the trio of Meagan Silves, Andrea Anaya and Jackie Ojeda, the Pirates claimed the fourth team spot with 121 points, trailing only Saddleback (41 points), Mt. San Antonio (46 points) and San Bernardino Valley (76 point) in the 13-team, 97-runner event.

Silves, who ran a 6:23.9 mile throughout the 5K race, crossed the finish line in seventh place with a time of 19 minutes, 52.8 seconds. Anaya was close behind her OCC teammate and placed 14th overall with a time of 20:20.7, while Ojeda finished 22nd overall with a time of 21:06.3.

Other top times for the Pirates included Valeria Rodriguez (21:51.6), Angelie Jaimes (22:01.2), Sarahi Terrones (22:15.5), Stephanie Valentin (24:06.5) and Yuridia Perez (25:43.5).

Coast will not compete this weekend, but will return to action on Friday, Oct. 19 at Cal State Fullerton for the 2018 Titan Invitational, beginning at 5 p.m.
