Pirates take second overall at OEC matchup
COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College women's golf team enjoyed the comforts of "home" on Monday as the Pirates hosted the other teams at this week's Orange Empire Conference matchup, with Coast taking second overall on Monday at the Costa Mesa Country Club.
Taking on a tough Los Lagos course and a field of quality golfers, Coast finished second overall with a team score of 321, trailing only Mt. San Antonio's team score of 305. Cuyamaca finished third overall with a score of 342, with Fullerton taking fourth at 443.
With just seven golfers carding sub-80 scores on Monday, OCC had two of them, with the 1-2 punch of Jeanie Tahvildari and Delylah Collins. Tahvildari carded the low round for the Pirates with a 75, with Collins just one shot behind her Coast teammate after shooting a 76.
Other top OCC scores included Moe Pyae Sone Khin (80), Sophia Tipton (90), Taylor Tuxford (94) and Lillian Thurston (96).
The Pirates and the rest of the OEC teams will be back in action on Wednesday at Ironwood Country Club, beginning at 11 a.m.
