Pirates win fifth straight with 8-1 win over Grossmont
COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College women's tennis team continue its strong start to the 2025 campaign with a solid 8-1 nonconference win over visiting Grossmont College on Tuesday afternoon.
In singles play, Coast (5-0 overall) picked up five straight-set wins from Kei Chung (7-5, 6-3), Tori Varela (6-0, 6-0), Sydney Friesan (6-2, 6-0), Ava Bocek (6-1, 6-2) and Isabella Gavrilovic (6-2, 6-0).
In doubles, the depth of the Pirates showed as OCC collected three wins from Mebuki Kitakuni/Kaylee Ho (8-2), Friesan/Kayla Cheng (8-4) and Breckyn Burg/Rozina Esfehani (8-3).
If the weather cooperates, the Pirates will play on Thursday at home against Mt. San Antonio College, beginning at 2 p.m.
