Pirates place sixth at SoCal Preview

RANCHO CUCAMONGA -- The Orange Coast College men's cross country team earned a sixth-place team performance at the 2024 Southern California Preview Meet on Friday with a team score of 138.

Of the 34 teams in the 207-runner field, only Bakersfield (106), Moorpark (111), Cerritos (112), Riverside (115) and San Bernardino Valley (123) topped the Pirates, while El Camino (202), Glendale (253), Cuesta (308) and Mt. San Antonio (312) rounded out the top 10.

Top runner for the Pirates went to sophomore standout Jimmy Dominguez, who conquered the 4-mile course in 14th place with a time of 21 minutes, 50.8 seconds. Close behind was OCC teammate Moises Bailon, who placed 16th at 21:54.9, while Lance Copp cracked the top-25 with a 23rd-place time of 22:07.1.

Other top OCC times were turned in by Caden Guardino (22:20.5), Nathan Garcia (22:47.2), Chance Callinan (22:56.7), Andres Guillen (23.18.4) and Farhaan Safi (23:42.6).

The Pirates will be back in action on Friday down at Liberty Station Park for the San Diego Mesa Invitational, beginning at 10 a.m.
