Pirate men capture second overall at OEC Finals

HUNTINGTON BEACH -- Led by three top-10 performances, the Orange Coast College men's cross country team earned a second-place team finish at the 2024 Orange Empire Conference Cross Country Championships on Friday at Central Park.

Riverside City College earned the top team spot with 23 points, while the Pirates placed second with 40 points, followed by Saddleback (84), Fullerton (94) and Santa Ana (140).

Pirate sophomore Jimmy Dominguez was OCC's top performer, conquering the 4-mile course in third place with a time of 20 minutes, 48.54 seconds. OCC teammate, Caden Guardino, finished fourth with a time of 21:07.62, followed by Chance Callinan, who placed eighth at 21:34.42.

Moises Bailon finished 11th with a 21:42.95, while Nathan Garcia wrapped up the point-producing scores for Coast with a 15th-place time of 21:47.35.

Other top scores for Coast included Farhaan Safi (21:55.69), William Dang (22:17.48), Lance Copp (22:39.85), Andres Guillen (22;46.99) and Peter Cao (23:52.31).

With Friday's solid performance, the Pirates will advance to the Southern California Regional Championship, which will take place at Chaffey College on Friday, beginning at 10 a.m.
