Pirates capture Mt. SAC Invitational
CHINO -- The Orange Coast College women's golf team came out swinging well and took first place overall at the Mt. SAC Invitational on Wednesday at El Prado Golf Club.
The temps were high, but the scores were low for the Pirates as they survived the elements and shot a team score of 310, 10 shots clear of runner-up and host, Mt. San Antonio College (320). College of the Desert (426) finished third overall, followed by Fullerton College (448) and Cuyamaca (no team score).
Nalani Sam was the low scorer of the day for all teams as the Pirate freshman shot a 1-under-par, 71. Two other OCC golfers -- Audrey Crinella and Sophia Ingle -- each cracked 80 and each shot 79s, followed by Sophie Thibodeau (81), Brianna Georgeson (82), Michelle Khin (82), Lilly Thurston (83) and Jaelyn Pendleton-Goodwin (97).
Coast will look to keep the low scores coming on Wednesday when they travel to the Cuyamaca Tournament, which kicks off at 11 a.m. at Cottonwood Country Club.
