Pirates edge Mounties in latest OEC matchup
FULLERTON -- The Orange Coast College women's golf continued its perfect run through the Orange Empire Conference schedule, but it wasn't easy as the Pirates edged rival Mt. San Antonio College by one stroke at Dad Miller Golf Club.
Both teams found the course to their liking, but in the end OCC finished Wednesday's matchup with a team score of 309, while the Mounties carded a 310, with Fullerton a distant third at 406.
All six golfers for the Pirates earned top-10 spots in the standings, with Sophie Thibodeau leading all golfers after she carded a 1-over-par, 72, one shot ahead of Mt. SAC's Kaitlyn Wang's 73.
Michelle Khin and Sofia Ingle each shot a 74 for fourth overall, followed by Audrey Crinella (7th, 81), Nalani Sam (8th, 83) and Lilly Thurston (10th, 86).
The Pirates, currently 20-0 and five wins ahead of the Mounties (15-5), will get next week off as they prepare for the two-round Orange Empire Conference Women's Golf Championships, set for Oct. 27 and 29 at Fullerton Golf Course, beginning at 11 a.m.
