Pirates take top two-year spot at Coast Classic
COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College women's track and field team picked up a well-deserved 86 points against a top field of competitors and a rough weather day from Mother Nature on Friday at the 2025 Coast Classic.
Cuyamaca College finished second among two-year schools with 64 points, followed by Long Beach City College (52), Santa Barbara (41), Saddleback (35), Pasadena (31), Fullerton (30), Santa Monica (20), Allan Hancock (17), Golden West (11), Westminster (Utah) 10, Compton (5) and Palomar (2).
The Pirates picked up three first-place wins against an elite field.
Liberty Miller blew away the competition in the 3,000 meters, setting the pace with a winning time of 10 minutes, 20.3 seconds ... a full 40 seconds faster than the rest of the field. Miller also earned a third-place performance in the 1,500 with a time of 4:41.8.
Another dominating performance came in the hammer throw, where Abigail Gavrilovic showed again why she is one of the tops in the state at this event, taking first place with a winning throw of 163-feet, 4-inches, nearly 29 FEET further than anyone else in the competition.
OCC runner, Jasmin Trujillo capped off a solid meet with a first-place time in the 400, topping the field with a time of 56.94 seconds.
Sprinter Alyssa Bowman finished third overall in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.19, while in the pole vault, Kiarah Palacio earned third place with a jump of 9-0 1/4.
The Pirates will head up to Pasadena City College for the 2025 PCC Invitational on Friday, beginning at 9 a.m.
