Pirates take two at El Camino
TORRANCE -- The Orange Coast College beach volleyball team got things done on Friday with a pair of nonconference wins against El Camino and L.A. Harbor up at ECC.
Coast opened things with a solid 4-1 win over the host Warriors. Straight-set wins were turned in by the duos of Kayla Ihrig/Kennedy Cutler (21-7, 21-9), Ella Hardstaff/Nika Safavi (21-7, 24-22), Lola Fernsten/Brynn Bisher (21-10, 21-14) and Dezi Butler/Mikhaela Lucas (21-11, 21-8).
In the second session, Coast pitched a shutout in blanking the Seahawks, 5-0. OCC victories were earned by Ihrig/Cutler (21-9, 21-7), Hardstaff/Safavi (21-7, 21-13), Fernsten/Bisher (21-11, 21-6), Joey Payan/Sanampreet Samra (21-16, 21-19) and Butler/Lucas (21-16, 21-19).
The Pirates (3-1) will head up to Long Beach City College for a pair of matches against host LBCC and Santa Barbara City College on Friday, beginning at 10 a.m.
