Pirates take runner-up at OEC Invitational

RIVERSIDE -- The Orange Coast College men's track and field team earned a second-place team finish with 150 points at Friday's Orange Empire Conference Invitational, hosted by Riverside City College.

The host Tigers earned the top team spot with 301 points, while Fullerton College (49 points), Saddleback (49) and Golden West (21) finished behind the Pirates in the team standings.

Sophomore Josh Miller earned a first-, second- and third-place result for his efforts, taking first overall in the 110-meter hurdles (16.0 seconds), a runner-up time in the 400 hurdles (56.76) and a third-place showing in the javelin throw (132-feet, 11-inches).

Also, congrats to Josh Santos, for a winning time in the 100 (10.9) and a pair of third-place marks in the high jump (6-2 3/4) and the long jump (22-1/4).

The Pirates will return to action this Friday and Saturday at the CSULB Invitational, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

100 -- Josh Santos, 10.9

110 Hurdles -- Josh Miller, 16.0

3,000 Steeplechase -- Nathan Garcia, 11:14.92

SECOND PLACE

800 -- Bernie Enriquez, 1:59.46

400 Hurdles -- Josh Miller, 56.76 

THIRD PLACE

400 -- Anthony Buttacavoli, 52.51

110 Hurdles -- Govern Nguyen-Spitzberg, 16.21

3,000 Steeplechase -- Peter Cao, 12:28.99

Javelin -- Josh Miller, 132-11

High Jump -- Josh Santos, 6-2 3/4

Long Jump -- Josh Santos, 22-1/4

Hammer -- Marcos Lerma, 139-1
